Anindya Chakraborty

Head, Finance and MIS

Anindya Chakraborty has 14 years of experience in accounts. He has been with ASSEFA(Association for SarvaSeva Firm) as an Accountant and has managed accounts in different field units of IGS. He is well versed with modern accounting software and keeps himself updated with day to day financial policy changes of the larger environment. He has also attended a training on FCRA roundtable (NGO compliance and regulations).

Bharati Joshi

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer

She is currently the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Indian Grameen Services (IGS), based in Kolkata. She has more than two decades of experience in the development sector. Her core competencies are in the areas of livelihoods sector strategizing and program development. She has been a development researcher, trainer, implementer and mentor, in diverse livelihood-focused initiatives. She has worked with community institutions and grassroot civil society organisations, facilitating their human and institutional capacity enhancement and governance improvement efforts. She has coordinated professional support to small NGOs through young development professionals. She has conceptualized and rolled out action research initiatives in the space of community-based natural resource management, livelihood portfolio diversification of the poor and migrant support. She has led and developed teams of livelihood professionals, set up and implemented systems to improve the quality of implementation of community-centered programs, and fortified the livelihood sector portfolios of the organizations she has worked with. Before joining IGS, she was leading the Economic Development Unit at CARE India Solutions for Sustainable Development.

She holds a Masters in Extension for Natural Resource Based Livelihoods (as Commonwealth Scholar, from the University of Reading, UK) as well as an M.Sc. in Plant Molecular Biology (Delhi University), and Post Graduate Diploma in Forestry Management (from Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal).

Bhaskar Chandra Sahoo

Senior Manager

Bhaskar Ch. Sahoo has 14 years of rich experience in the livelihood sector. Through his trainings and experience, he specializes in financial inclusion services, entrepreneurship development and enterprise promotion. He is adept in promoting grassroot level institutions like SHG and FPOs and then developing them to take over the enterprise development and helping to explore and develop various livelihood promotion ventures.

He is an MBA and holds a master's degree in Sociology too. He has also completed his PG Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from NIHRD, PG Diploma in Rural Development, from IGNOU. He has polished his expertise in microfinance management, SHG product marketing, and FPO promotion, through various trainings conducted by NABARD, BIRD, and Odisha Forestry Sector Development Society.

Bhaskar Singh Baghel


Bhaskar Singh Baghel is the development professional with more than 17 years of experience, working in various capacities in several credible organisations. He completed his Masters in Economics and also in Rural Development. He has successfully led several projects' operations throughout professional journey, been involved in effective implementation of MGNREGS, done advocacy for shelter rights of the urban poor, ensured inclusive finance for 1000 urban poor individuals, establishes process and system for the successful repayment of microcredit, supported migrantsthrough vocational training and institution building, imparted business skills to weavers, ensured market support to rural women,micro-promoted micro-enterprises, and engaged in organizing farmer producer organisations.

Bhaskar also brings in valuable experience of working in collaboration with government organisations, viz. Rural Development Department of Uttar Pradesh for effective implementation of MGNREGA, Carpet Sector Skill Council for promotion of carpet training, Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Society for promoting 500+ weavers in Bihar, and with the Odisha PVTG Empowerment and Livelihood Improvement Program (OPELIP). He has acquired valuable skills throughout his career, in project planning and operations, monitoring and evaluation, research, microenterprise promotion, institution building, financial inclusion, marketing and branding, and business development support, to name a few.

Dharmendra Sriwastwa

Assistant Vice President

Dharmendra Sriwastwa is a post graduate in Rural Development from Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi. He has 23 years of experience in promoting livelihoods, appropriate technologies, clean energy, extension of financial services and institution building. He has been working extensively in agriculture management and related disciplines since the beginning of his professional life along with experience in community mobilization and connecting farmer's collectives to the market. He is also an expert in marketing, development of the network of the private supply chain for production, promotion and dissemination of innovative technologies and sustainable increase in income of small farmers using these technologies.

Dileep Gupta

Associate Vice President

Dileep is IIMA alumina and had attended training program at IIM Ahmadabad. He is also trained by Micro Save Africa in market research using PRA. He was also the part of USAID Co-creation workshop, an approach to develop proposal in coalition/partnership - a part of Broad Agency Announcement (BAA). He was a jury member in 2016 and 2017 of SPARDHA- National Summer Internship Project Presentation Competition, being organized annually by Institute of Rural Management, Jaipur.

He has 29 years of experience in the development sector, mainly in Institution Building and Livelihood promotion. His area of expertise includes program design,market research, analysis, implementation, and institutional development.

He has contributed immensely in transforming Revolving Fund based rural credit program - KOSH of ASSEFA-a reputed NGO, into a vibrant Micro Finance Institution-Sarvodya Nano Finance Ltd. Through his institutional development expertise has brought in visible positive changes in Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) during the implementation of Credit Cooperative Reform Pilot Project (CCRPP) which was specifically undertaken to showcase model of Credit Cooperative REFORM vis-a-vis Vaidyanathan Committee Recommendation for Reform.

He got the opportunity to work closely with Government and had led the Technical Assistance Unit (TAU) of Rajasthan Mission on Livelihood (RMOL) in 2008. He has been efficient and effective implementer and a mentor as well. He is process-oriented, and Projects under him impact for sure, and executives/managers working under him excel to a large extent. Having ushered into FPO promotion project of SFAC, Govt. of India, he has produced sustainable FPO in mere three years and has developed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of FPO promotion.

Himangshu Das

Senior Manager

Himangshu Das has experience of more than 16 years in different government project, multilateral, bilateral agencies, National level implementing Agencies and donor agency. He has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Civil Engineering from NIT Silchar. Mr Das is endowed with valuable skills in stakeholder management.He has substantial experience of working in the rural parts of Eastern India. His thematic forte is land and water development, and institutional development. He hasmentored several colleagues across various organizations. Himangshu has worked in collaboration with several donor and clients for different projects. His interest areas are "Value Chain Development", "INRM", "Agriculture" and "Clean Energy".

Currently based in Ranchi, Himangshu oversees IGS's operations as a Community Service Provider in one of the Zones of Jharkhand Women Development Society's World Bank-funded Tejaswini initiative. He also co-ordinates project operations in the North Eastern States, and steers the Mentorship Program of the organisation in collaboration with the Human Resources and Organisational Development team of IGS. Kumaresh Raut

Associate Vice President

Kumaresh Rout has extensive development sector experience spanning for over 22 years. He has got a basic background of commerce and has completed his Post-Graduation in Rural Management. His career highlight is working in development sector with a commercial blend. In his tenure in International Development Enterprises (IDE) he picked up the skills of rural marketing through different promotional model (Static & Dynamic) resulting in dissemination of innovative technology in the rural and agriculture sector. He made a shift to Agriculture Finance Corporation (AFC) Ltd, to gain hands-on experience in livelihood and infrastructure developmental projects. In AFC, he acquired valuable skills in proposal development and monitoring and evaluation of developmental projects.

During his stint with the BASIX SEG, he has been involved in delivering Institutional Development Services (IDS), extending handholding support to NGOs, MFI/CBMFI in the Eastern and Northeastern states of India and in mentoring and technically guiding rural enterprises and individual entrepreneurs. He was instrumental in designing of modular IDS products for the group. Kumaresh has over a decade of rich experience in the field of inclusive finance, wherein he has specialized in setting up processes, policies and teams to manage large financial operations spread across a diverse line of businesses and in risk optimization for large portfolio management. His exposure in the financial space cuts across various business themes in Microfinance and Agri-business Finance. He has the experience of leading a funds targeted at providing financial support (credit, systems development grants as well as returnable grants) to MFIs, FPOs and MSMEs in different states of India, via different operational models. He has expertise in conceptualizing and developing program frameworks essential for managing business growth, knowhow and mitigating the risks of small businesses.

Mahender Tammala

Senior Manager

Mahender holds a master's degree in Commerce Degree from Osmania University, Hyderabad and a Masters in Corporate Secretaryship from Alagappa University, Karaikudi. Since he joined IGS in 2018, he has been extending company secretarial services to the Company. He has provided similar support to several other group companies of BASIX. In fact, he managed the incorporation of various group companies by ensuring their registration under necessary Acts. He is responsible for overall compliance under the Companies Act including conducting Committee, Board meetings and General Meetings, drafting minutes of the Committees, Board and General Meetings, filing of forms and returns as and when required for IGS and other group companies.

Mahender has over 22 years of experience in the areas of corporate governance and board matters along with regulatory and internal compliance. The key areas of his expertise and experience are Corporate Governance and Company Secretarial services. He is also responsible for ensuring compliance under Companies Act, NBFC, FCRA, FEMA, Societies Registration Act and other laws applicable for Basix Social Enterprise Group entities. Apart from this, Mahender supported the group Chairman in setting-up and running of Sa-Dhan, the Association of Community Development Finance Institutions and Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN), an microfinance industry network.

Punyasloka Mohanty

Head, Human Resources and Organisational Development

Punyasloka Mohanty has basic qualifications in Commerce and he holds an MBA degree in Finance and HR. He is also a law graduate. He has 22 years of rich experience of working with diverse national and international organizations on financial management, procurement and administration.He is trained in Leadership Skills, Problem Solving and Decision-making, Financial Management and Humanitarian Logistic Management.

Raja Khan

Senior Manager

Raja Khan, is an Arts graduate with over 29 years of administration, logistics, program operations and management experience in the development sector. He has been with BASIX since its inception and took care of administration and accounting functions of BASIX Head office in Hyderabad and in Unit offices (during 1996-1999). During that period, he set up fully operational offices(with systems, software, etc.) in Hyderabad, Mahboob Nagar, Khammam (Telangana) and Raichur (Karnataka). He moved to IGS's Registered Office in Delhi in 1999 and has been taking care of administration, accounting, and legal matters related to Group Companies of BASIX. Besides that, he was also on deputation to setup Sa-Dhan as Program Executive for five years (1999-2003). Some of his key projects in BASIX have been - the starting of Urban Microfinance in Hyderabad and Delhi (2005), Water and Sanitation project (constructing toilet in slums of Delhi) in collaboration with the Delhi Jal Board and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (2006), setting up of Common Service Centresin Meghalaya (2007), handling operations of Bhamashah projectas Jaipur District Head and later on as Divisional Head in Rajasthan (2007-08), andParticipatory Microfinance in Mewat in Haryana (2012).Thereafter, Raja supported operations and provided legal support for setting up a milk collection and chilling plant in Khairthal, Alwar, Rajasthan (2014), and headed the Jharkhand CSC operation for one year (2017). He supported setting up BASIX's Guest house in Delhi and then built up its management system.

Raja, during the two decades experience in BASIX has acquired wide and varied experience in Accounts, Technology, Banking Administration, Estate Management, Office Management, Stakeholder Liaison, Event Management, Market Research, Business Development, Product Selling, Compliance and Reporting.

Presently Raja works as Senior Manager in IGS's Registered Office in Delhi and providesgeneral administration support, facilitates liaison of BASIX with Bankers, RBI, Ministries, UIDAI, Income Tax office, and donors of BASIX SEG members. He also follows up with the auditors and communicates with the Board Members on behalf of the group companies, as required.

Ravichandran L.

Assistant Manager

Ravichandran is a Commerce Graduate from Seshadripuram College, Bangalore University, with a master's degree in Commerce from Bangalore University, Karnataka. He has around 9 years (1986-1995) of experience as a part time worker while studying, and 25 years of full-time experience working with quasi Government and private sectororganisations. Ravichandran brings a thorough understanding of general accounts and administration in addition to a rich experience of handling national and International logistics. He has been monitoring and supporting IGS's FPO promotion initiatives in South India, and enthusiastically and effectively liaisons with government agencies and donors.

Prior to IGS, Ravichandran has worked with various SEG companies. With the Institute of Livelihood Research and Training (formerly The Livelihood School), he was handling accounts and finance, supporting HR and Administration, and provided logistic support duringtraining programs. He trained new recruits in accounting software - Volacduring the Bhamashah Project in Rajasthan and simultaneously facilitated audit and accounting. He was the logistic backbone for BASIX Consulting Division (BASICS Ltd. & BCTS) as he supported accounts and finance teams, managed induction and training of new recruits, and handled all logistic preparations of the team for their international assignments.

Based in Bangalore, Ravichandran provides technical support to IGS's FPO promotion initiative in Andhra Pradesh and does donor liaison and follow up.

Sanjib Sarangi

Associate Vice President

Sanjib Sarangi is a development practitioner in the field of environmental conservation and livelihoods having more than two decades of experience. He has been trained in ABCD - Asset-Based and Citizen centric Development by Coady International Institute, Canada and in leadership by IIM Bangalore in Aritra Leader programme.

He pioneered some of the exemplary works including Community-based Ecotourism at Mangalajodi, Odisha, where the bird poachers are transformed into protectors of the land. He has been leading IGS's work for rebuilding livelihoods of relocated communities in Melghat Tiger Reserve, Maharastra, Similipal Tiger Reserve, Odisha and Satpuda Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh. His efforts have led to IGS's work being widely appreciated on national and international fora, including the prestigious UNWTO Award for 2018 that the Mangalajodi initiative won at Madrid for Innovation in Enterprise.

Sanjib is an avid naturalist and wildlife enthusiast. Photography is his areas of interest.He firmly believes that the environment should be an integral part of each and every development agenda to build a healthy society and human capital to make the planet living friendly!
